The current development phase of WeldExp Modules Calculators focuses on creating new welding-technology calculators. The aim is to provide calculation support modules that make everyday engineering work faster, clearer and easier to document. The calculators under development will not be isolated manual calculation sheets but modules connected to the WeldExp system and available through a consistent interface.

New calculator modules under development
WQC – Welding Quantity Calculator
Welding quantity calculator
The purpose of the WQC module is to determine quantities associated with welding tasks. By entering the joint type, weld geometry, weld length and number of pieces, the user can calculate the expected weld quantity, deposited material quantity and related process data. The module provides a basis for estimating material demand and for later cost calculations.
PWHTC – Post Weld Heat Treatment Calculator
Post-weld heat-treatment calculator
The PWHTC module supports the planning of post-weld heat-treatment tasks. Its purpose is to help review heat-treatment parameters by taking into account the base material, material thickness, heat-treatment temperature and holding time. A key development objective is to make it immediately clear which heat-treatment data belong to the given technological task.
WCC – Welding Cost Calculator
Welding cost calculator
The WCC module is being developed to estimate the expected costs of welding tasks. The calculator creates a summary based on weld quantity, material demand, labour time, machine time, hourly rates and other cost factors. Its purpose is to support quotations, production preparation and preliminary cost planning.
T8/5 – Cooling Time Calculator
The T8/5 calculator supports evaluation of the welding thermal cycle. Its purpose is to determine the cooling time between 800 °C and 500 °C, which plays an important role in assessing the expected microstructure, hardness and weldability risks. Based on the process parameters, the user receives rapid feedback on whether the cooling conditions fall within an appropriate range.
Consistent interface and shared data management
The new calculators are being developed with a consistent user interface so that individual calculations can be performed according to similar logic. The modules are based on base-material, welding-consumable, technological and documentation data stored in the WeldExp system, allowing calculation results to be retrieved later and used for documentation purposes.
Current development tasks
The present development phase covers the user-interface design of the new calculators, refinement of the calculation logic, preparation of data-loading processes and clear presentation of results. The next step is to support saving and reloading individual calculations and linking them with the related WeldExp modules.
