The WeldExp software system is not currently available as a commercial product. The module scope, package composition and licensing conditions may change during development.
Overview of software packages
The modular WeldExp software system is planned to be available in five package configurations. The individual variants target different use cases, ranging from essential welding engineering calculations to comprehensive support for production and laboratory processes.
The Professional and Laboratory packages do not simply represent lower and higher package tiers. Professional is primarily intended for companies manufacturing welded products and welding engineering professionals, while Laboratory focuses on the workflows of testing and qualification laboratories.
- BASIC: The base package of the system for the most important welding engineering calculations and database functions. It includes modules for calculating preheat temperature, weldability and weld geometry, as well as the base material and welding consumable databases, ZenitProDB Manager, WEP File Manager and Microsoft Excel export. Licence entitlements are managed by the Client Licence Manager.
- PROFESSIONAL: A package designed for companies manufacturing welded products and for welding engineering professionals. In addition to the BASIC functions, it includes further technology, cost, qualification and heat-treatment calculators, WPS and WPQR management, document template management, FTP-based file management, and client-side database and desktop service modules.
- LABORATORY: A configuration intended for material testing laboratories, qualification bodies and users carrying out laboratory processes. It includes M-Test Manager, Inventory Manager for Lab and Employee Manager for Lab, WPQR management, PDF report export, as well as calculators and databases for laboratory tasks.
- PREMIUM: The package providing the full functionality of WeldExp. It includes all 30 configured modules, including every calculator, the production and laboratory registers, the extended BML+ and WML+ databases, and all service, file management and document management modules.
- STUDENT / TRIAL: A configuration providing access to all modules, with restrictions on duration and permitted use. The Student variant is planned to provide one year of access for educational and non-commercial purposes to students in vocational or higher education. The Trial variant provides a 90-day evaluation period for the system.

The Student and Trial variants use the same complete module package in the licence management configuration. The difference between the two constructions is defined by the validity period, the eligible user group and the permitted purpose of use.
The table shows the currently planned package composition. The final commercial offerings, module availability and individual extension options may still change based on development and testing experience.
Planned licence types
The following licence models are planned for the packages:
- Perpetual licence: Entitles the user to use a specified major version of WeldExp without a time limit. Newer major versions, support or longer-term updates may be covered by a separate upgrade or maintenance arrangement.
- Fixed-term licence with update entitlement: Planned for a usage period of 6, 12 or 24 months. It may also include bug fixes, minor improvements and compatibility updates released during the active period.
- Software subscription: Access subject to monthly or annual payment, allowing use of the selected software package while the subscription remains active. The BASIC package is planned to be the first subscription-based offering.
- Student licence: A planned one-year educational licence providing access to all modules. It is intended exclusively for study, training and non-commercial use.
- Trial licence: A 90-day time-limited evaluation licence providing an opportunity to assess the WeldExp system and all of its modules.
Technical management of licence entitlements and activated packages is supported in every package by the Client Licence Manager (CLM). A more detailed description of cloud-based licence management is available in the Client Licence Manager overview.
